Pay Rate: $45.37 per hour, with time-and-a-half pay for weekend hours

Scripps Institution of Oceanography is seeking a qualified Third Assistant Engineer for an immediate temporary assignment aboard one of our research vessels.

The Third Assistant Engineer will assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of the vessel’s engines, generators, machinery, and other engineering systems. The selected candidate will work closely with the Chief Engineer and other members of the engineering department to ensure the vessel operates safely and efficiently.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications:

Valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential with an Unlimited Third Assistant Engineer endorsement or higher
Valid Medical Certificate
Current TWIC card
Applicable STCW endorsements and certificates
Ability to pass all required pre-employment screenings
Previous experience aboard research vessels or similar vessels is preferred
Qualified candidates should submit their resume, availability, and copies of both sides of their MMC, Medical Certificate, TWIC card, and applicable STCW certificates.
