Company Overview

Angell Animal Medical Center is a premier veterinary institution staffed by 45 senior veterinarians, 20 interns, 11 residents and 91 certified veterinary technicians and we have an additional 9 technicians with a VTS.

Angell offers specialty services in anesthesiology, avian and exotic medicine, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care medicine, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, nutrition, medical and radiation oncology, ophthalmology, anatomic and clinical pathology, and surgery. Angell is a rich educational environment offering weekly on-site continuing education seminars and regular multi-disciplinary specialty rounds attended by M.D. specialists from local prestigious hospitals.

At Angell Boston our doctors practice in an ~ 80,000 square foot, state-of-the-art hospital containing a critical care unit with mechanical ventilation capabilities, blood bank, multiple specialty rooms, 7 surgical suites, full service in house clinical laboratory, microbiology service, necropsy suite, histopathology laboratory for on-site biopsy evaluation, and a linear accelerator that can do stereotactic radiosurgery. We have our own sterile compounding pharmacy room and an on site pharmacy.

Company History

Angell Animal Medical Center was founded in 1915. We are recognized internationally as a leader in animal medicine and have the reputation as one of the finest veterinary teaching hospitals in North America. Angell serves the greater Boston and scenic New England area as a primary care facility, a 24-hour emergency hospital, and as a tertiary referral center.

Angell offered the very first veterinary internship in the world beginning in 1941, running continuously to present day. Angell was instrumental in establishing specialty veterinary medicine. Our hospital has a long history of providing training not only to veterinary interns and residents but also to veterinary students and the veterinary community at large.

Angell Animal Medical is part of the MSPCA, one of the oldest and most respected humane organizations in the world. Working for a non-profit veterinary hospital that clearly delivers on our mission of advancing the health and welfare of animals adds a wonderful dimension to delivering high quality and cutting edge veterinary medicine.

Notable Accomplishments / Recognition

Our deeply experienced doctors have pioneered new surgical techniques, and helped to transform veterinary medicine. This depth of medical knowledge is paramount in the care we provide, but so are the “goodnight” texts we send to our clients with photos of their pets settling in for the night, and the behind-the-scenes snuggles our team share with patients when they need extra TLC. Angell is special not just for our hundred year history, but for our forward-thinking approach to veterinary medicine.
