Description

Cyriacks Environmental Consulting Services (CECOS) is looking to hire a Senior Environmental Scientist/Project Manager for its’ Deerfield Beach or Miami Lake office located in south Florida. CECOS provides a wide range of environmental and ecological consulting services including environmental permitting, environmental monitoring and permit compliance, the investigation and analysis of impacts to terrestrial, wetland and coastal marine resources in tropical and subtropical environments, threatened and endangered species surveys, NEPA documentation, sea-level rise analysis, and resiliency studies.

 

Requirements: Minimum requirements include a B.S degree (M.S. preferred) in environmental sciences, biology, or relevant area of study and a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in environmental permitting, NEPA documentation, conducting natural resource studies and environmental permit compliance and monitoring. Candidate should have comprehensive experience with managing delivery teams and production of environmental field studies (e.g., delineation, sampling, inspection, etc.) and office tasks (e.g., literature review, data analysis, technical report writing, and permit preparation). Should be knowledgeable in Florida state and federal permit regulations, NEPA and FDOT PD&E studies. Individual should be SCUBA certified and have knowledge of Florida’s ecology, flora, and fauna. Individual should also have strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to multi-task, work independently and be a self-starter. GIS experience a plus. It is preferable that individual have experience in Florida.

 

Specific Duties: Work as part of a Team on NEPA, environmental permitting, natural resource studies and environmental monitoring/compliance projects. This is a challenging position, and the individual would be responsible for the following activities:

  • Project management for NEPA, permitting, compliance, etc
  • Manage client relations, proposal writing, project cost estimating and preparing project work plans.
  • Conduct field work (wetland delineations, marine benthic surveys, wildlife etc.).
  • Prepare and edit technical reports and feasibility studies.
  • Prepare/review environmental applications, reports, etc.
  • Construction site observations and field reports.
  • Perform environmental compliance monitoring.
  • Assist with marketing and business development efforts.
  • Mentor junior environmental scientists.

We specialize in providing these services to public sector clients including: Broward County Highway and Construction Engineering, Aviation, Seaport Engineering and Construction (Port Everglades), and Environmental Protection and Growth Management, Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and various counties, municipalities, and state and federal agencies.


We have obtained numerous environmental permits authorizing infrastructure projects (i.e., roads, bridges, airports, developments) from both the SFWMD and USACE. For these projects, we conducted marine benthic surveys, wetland delineations, species surveys/ Section 7 consultation, GIS wetland/habitat mapping, as well as application preparation, agency coordination and mitigation. We also provided permit compliance services for public sector projects. We have also been involved in several Design-Build projects and understand the importance of obtaining permits in an expeditious manner.
