The Pet Hospital of New Bern is a full-service veterinary medical facility. We are a non-corporate, privately owned small animal practice located in New Bern, North Carolina. Our professional and courteous staff provide the best possible medical, surgical, urgent care/emergency services and dental care in the region for our highly-valued patients. We are seeking a office manager that is eager to drive our business to its highest potential. The right candidate will take initiative and operate the hospital with true personal commitment and interest in the hospital, staff and client/patients well-being. Compensation:
$45,000-75,000 dependent on work experience and certifications

Requirements
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Office or Practice Manager is required (2-5+ years)
- While associate or higher degree is preferred, life-experiences will be considered for the right candidate.
- Superior organizational skills to manage and maintain all administrative duties, including scheduling appointments, managing invoices, and maintaining patient records. Must have data entry experience and computer acumen
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners, conveying information regarding their pet’s health, treatment plans, and preventive care measures.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive and compassionate relationships with clients
- Manage and/or assist in implementing hospital policies, including DEA/Controlled Substances, labor laws and OSHA policies.
- Ensure all licensing and dues are up to date, adhered to and paid on time. Assisting in inspections from licensing boards as need arises.
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures to communicate effectively within a veterinary setting.
- Leadership abilities to supervise office staff, ensuring they perform their tasks effectively and efficiently as part of a team. To work with other parts of the management team to provide a unified environment for both support staff and clientele.
- Customer service and problem-solving skills to address and resolve client concerns, staff issues, and operational challenges that may arise
- Understanding of basic accounting principles for managing the clinic’s inventory and keeping it current. Review best prices for all products purchased, maintain the inventory control including controlled substances. Monitor product quantities, qualities and price points.
- Develop positive and professional relationships with hospital vendors, and seek help for products / services and equipment that are in need of return or repair / servicing.
- The ability to interview and check references for new employment candidates and make referrals to practice owner
- Ensure payroll is completed and submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist in staff schedules, primary focus on CSRs, manage schedule disruptions, and process new employee paperwork, explain handbook policies and data entry of personnel information in secure fashion.
- Assist CPA, financial advisors, retirement account manager and other adjunct professionals by providing needed documents or information in a timely fashion.
- Oversee social media accounts, including hospital website and keep them up-to-date and research ideas to help hospital stay relevant
- Ability to carry 50 pounds without assistance
- Maintain a commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine, upholding the veterinary code of ethics
- Ability to be flexible for the needs of a growing hospital, with a tentatively set schedule of 40-50 hours a week with rotating weekend responsibilities.
