  • Maintain accurate and detailed technical records of experimental design and data to ensure results are properly annotated and organized for reports.
  • Provide data collection and analysis for experiments.
  • Collaborate with other scientists, engineers, and technical staff in the implementation of safety guidelines for experimental operations by applying technical knowledge and skills in a variety of safety disciplines and ensuring design reviews are conducted.
  • Perform other duties as assigned including additional travel as required for maintenance and mission support.

Additional job responsibilities, at the TSS.2 level
  • Apply relevant professional experience, as well as analysis and the creative use of established techniques and methods, to significantly enhance the Flight Test Group's hardware suite.
  • Participate in leadership activities including planning, technical resource management, recruitment of staff, direction of work and work closely with Flight Test customers and sponsors to secure contracts and funding.
  • Work independently to perform assigned technical and/or operational tasks and to support projects and research efforts.
  • May provide guidance and/or mentoring to less experienced team members.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability and willingness for extended travel at sea and in remote locations up to 40% of your time.
  • Ability to be certified on marine crane operations as well as understand and ensure all regulatory and safety procedures are followed by all personnel involved in launch and recovery operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering design and engineering drawings, including geometric tolerancing and dimensioning, knowledge of machining processes, mechanical fabrication and assembly, materials properties, and manufacturing methods.
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of CAD software for design.
  • Experience functioning as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to identify and recommend solutions to technical problems of limited complexity by evaluating readily identifiable factors using standard methodologies.
