ABOUT THE CLUB:Marine Drive Golf Club is a traditional, yet progressive private members golf club, located in Vancouver, British Columbia. This Arthur Vernon Macan designed course opened in 1922, celebrated its centennial year in 2022 , and has been proud to have some of Canada's finest golfers as members. With a passionate core of golfers, tournaments are frequent, and standards are high.
ABOUT THE TEAM: Working alongside Golf Course Superintendent Jamie Robb, and the rest of the Links Management team , the Assistant Superintendent will round out a high-functioning team of five managers within the department.
POSITION OVERVIEW: This leader will be responsible for aiding in overseeing the maintenance, operation and management of the golf course and associated grounds and facilities. They will be one of two Assistant Superintendents within the Links team. The person in this position will be expected to develop relationships interdepartmentally and with suppliers, contractors and consultants. In the absence of the Associate and Golf Course Superintendents, they are expected to make decisions and fill those responsibilities in conjunction with the other Assistant Superintendent.
UPCOMING: Working with prominent, world class Golf Course Designers WAC , the club has recently completed a state of the art, $3.9 million driving range, and is working towards other golf course projects over the next three to five years. This is likely to include continuing to upgrade bunkers to Better Billy Bunker , modernizing the irrigation and drainage systems, and renovating tee complexes and cart paths in order to continue elevating standards of conditioning.
QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a degree or diploma from a recognized post secondary university or college in a turfgrass related field. Have worked on a golf course for a minimum of three seasons and possess a desire to become a Golf Course Superintendent. Have or be able to obtain a BC Landscape Pesticide Applicator Certificate within 90 days of employment.
