Description
DLBA Naval Architects, a division of Gibbs & Cox, has an internship opening for Fall/Spring 2025-26.As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide designer, drafting, and naval architecture support in the development of steel, aluminum, and composite (a) recreational vessels, (b) commercial ship designs, and (c) U.S. Government programs from 20’ to 250’ feet in length.
Primary Responsibilities
To execute redlines of DLBA/Gibbs & Cox deliverables with guidance from Senior Designer teammates. Once a firm grasp of drafting principles has been established there will be a possibility to create new deliverables for various projects.
There will also be an opportunity to explore Naval Architecture including conventional aspects of marine vessel design (resistance and powering, stability evaluation, structural design, seakeeping predictions). Work may require a broad knowledge of precedents in naval architecture and an in-depth knowledge of principles and practices of related technologies.
Basic Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Currently seeking a degree program for Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Ocean Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to work as a team member
- Excellent MS Office skills, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Proficiency in using industry-standard CAD software, including AutoCAD and/or Rhino
- Strong analytical skills, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior studies in the field of naval architecture and marine engineering
- Practical application of boat building and design

Pay Range:
Pay Range $34,450.00 - $62,275.00
